"Golden Age" won the 2nd Hypewriter Pitch Forum in Budapest

The television series idea “Golden Age” won the 2nd Hypewriter Pitch Forum in Budapest. The project was pitched by talented Hungarian filmmakers Balázs Bendi and Adrienn Erdődy at Hypewriter on June 25. This means that the pilot episode of “Golden Age” will be developed and produced by Paprika Studios, a production company dedicated to producing innovative, quality content for television. RTL Hungary will broadcast the episode on one of its channels. The pilot of last year’s winner, “The Butcher” was screened after the pitches at the event yesterday, attended by many international players of the film and television industry.

The Hypewriter Original TV Series Pitch Forum seeks the greatest talents and finest original TV series ideas. The pilot episode of winning project of Hypewriter’s 2018 edition, “The Butcher” is finished, and will be broadcast on RTL Klub in the autumn. Last year finalist Petr Kolecko’s TV show “Hrobari” is going to premiere soon on JOJ TV, one of Slovakia's most popular channels.

160 projects from 30 countries were submitted for the call of Hypewriter’s 2019 edition. 8 finalists were selected for the Pitch Forum event held in Budapest on June 25, attended by over a hundred international film and television industry professionals. The genres of the chosen projects were diverse: among others, there was a supernatural family drama, political satire, mafia story, comedy and social dramedy alike.

The members of the Jury were Péter Kolosi, Deputy CEO and Director of Programming at RTL Hungary, Stella Litou, the General Manager of ANT1 TV, the leading media group in Greece, Dave Clarke, the EVP Content for DRG and Atrium TV, writer-director Omri Givon, the creator of the Israeli series “Hostages”, and Bence Trunkó, a member of the Board and the Chief Creative Officer at Paprika Studios.

According to the Jury, “Golden Age” is a powerful and convincing series concept with a promising distribution opportunity for wider audiences, with a story and characters that can be developed diversely.

“Golden Age” will be developed and produced by Paprika Studios, a production company dedicated to producing innovative, quality content for television. RTL Hungary will broadcast the episode on one of its channels.

The Jury gave a Special Mention to three further projects:

“Border Tales” (by Levente Nagy), “The Holy Family” (by Gábor Osváth), and “The Prophets” (by Attila Árpa), all with promising co-production opportunities. These series ideas will be developed in the development workshop of Paprika Studios.

Hypewriter will take place again in 2020 in Budapest, with even more professional programmes and other outstanding series ideas.
